SO I’LL BE GOING TO SHERIDAN NEXT YEAR
Direct admission to the prep program! They said they’ll be sending my letter of acceptance soon!
Pros:
IT’S THE BEST SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY
ONLY MUSICAL THEATRE DEGREE PROGRAM IN THE COUNTRY
PERFECT FOR ME
WE DANCED TO SPAMALOT IN THE AUDITION. ♫IN YOUR WHITE TIE AND TAILS, FIND YOUR GRAIL, FIND YOUR GRAAAAAIL♫ (it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in my entire life. HOLD YOUR INVISIBLE BOW TIE, box step, jazz step, push turn BROADWAY PIZZAZslide right draw circles with your feet left right step, HOLD YOUR IMAGINARY JACKET kick step step kick step step, CHARLESTON, spin right, spin left, grapevine, box step, pirouette, walk walk JUMP KICK step around in a circle shaZAM)
One in THREE schools that Disney will hire from. That’s right, they only hire from the top three schools in North America
The audition panel said that I have a brilliant personality and great energy, one that they definitely want to have around. I should continue to pursue musical theatre, and I can definitely go far. They loved my performance, and my interview went really well. I made them laugh. I got 100% on my theory exam (it was monumentally easy).
Over 400 people auditioned. Only 70 got in to the prep program. I’m in the top 19%
I’m still pretty young
My hair is really soft here, the air feels good to breathe, I’m walking distance from Lake Ontaio and a really cool forest (it looks just like the forests in Calvin and Hobbes). I like the environment, transit is really good (busses talk here)
It’s not too expensive for a university. Of course I’ll aim for as many scholarships as I can get, but equivalent American schools are usually around $60000, which is ridiculous.
The prep program is generally less strenuous than the degree program, so I’ll probably be able to keep writing songs!
Huge employment rating after people graduate
Everyone here seems really awesome, the instructors are amazing, and auditions were a good experience
This is the beginning of a great career. Although I’ll probably never acquire spectacular broadway fame, I imagine that I’ll be able to actually support myself one day, and things will probably be okay.
It’s basically Camelot (Spamalot version) there
Cons:
Ariel. I will miss her more than anything in the world. I will probably spend my first week crying, and trying to teleport to her. I love her more than anything else in the world, and it will be difficult to stay in a good emotional state without her beside me. I imagine she’ll have a rough time next year too. We’ll be alright though. We can get through this <3 True love survives any distance!
Wind is cold here (It totally never occurred to me that the rest of the world doesn’t have chinooks)
I’ll miss all my friends and family
It costs money, and I don’t think I’ll be able to afford many trips back to Calgary.
Only 45 people get in to the degree program each year, and next year I’ll have to re-audition for it. On average, only 5 out of the 70 in the prep program get in. I need to move from the top 19% to the top 7% by next year.
